The thing that I like most about blogs is that they help create a sense of community among the people who write and visit a blog. In order for that community feeling to grow, we need to get to know each other, writer and readers.
I know (and when I say know, I mean in that on-line kinda way) some of the other contributers to Spare Change but there are others I don't. We are still working on a Author's Bio page (and when I say working on, I mean we haven't even started on it yet) but it hasn't been completed yet. As a result I think we need a little get to know each other time. So here is the assignment: In the comments (Let Your Fingers Do The Talking) tell us about you. You know the kind of stuff that you would normally find on a bio page (and when I say the kind of stuff that you would normally find on a bio page, I don't mean one of those 100 things about me memes, I haven't read all the way through one of those yet). Poster or just a reader, I want to know about you. I'll go first.
In case you are wondering, this post is what I call a comment generator, of which I am quite famous for. It is my goal to be that author of the post with the most comments (Muhahaha!) So you heard it Spare Change Players, it's on! I also plan on being the poster with the most spelling errors. Now I need to go find an MT plug-in that will list which posts have the most comments.
Class dismissed!
PS Does anyone know of a fix to make the comments in MT to show up without highlighting or scrolling? Thanks!
March 6, 2004 3:00 PMOkay, I said I would go first.
My name is Christopher Wright. I am a teacher. I teach third grade. I am the author of What in Tarnation?!?!? which just celabrated its second blogday on the 5th of March.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, watching TV and Movies, playing around with the computer, and cutting small things out of construction paper.
Posted by: Christopher at March 6, 2004 3:06 PMHappy blogday, Christopher!
I am Jen of Jen Speaks. I am a soon-to-be Budget Analyst for the US Marshals Service.
In my spare time I like romantic walks in the rain...
Oh, no - I actually loathe walking anywhere in the rain.
In my spare time I like to blog, read, watch TV and movies, and sing in the worship band at church. I am also the small group leader of four very cool teenage girls in my church.
Posted by: jen at March 6, 2004 5:46 PMChristopher, Jen, nice learning a little more info about you both. I go by Todd and (sometimes) Yeti since I blog at yetispeak...
Besides living in a snow cave, I often venture out to earn a living as a technical writer, insurance claim processor, and (hopefully soon) a career missionary.
In my spare time, I enjoy...wait a minute, I have a wife and two young daughters, I have no spare time! I read and write whenever I get a minute. And I love March Madness. Thanks for asking!
Posted by: Todd at March 6, 2004 8:47 PMI screwed up my URL in the last comment, but I'm sure you figured it out (yetispeak)
Just imagine what I can do with submlimal messages. ;)
Posted by: Todd at March 6, 2004 8:52 PMHello, I'm a viking(?) from Norway, named Ole Eidjord :)
In love with God! :) I'm a student, study computer technology (the worst subject on school is english :). I'm a youth leader in a church. Yesterday we had a 24 hours prayer (2 hours each). It was the best day ever! Read lots of blogs, including this one (it's to few christian norwegian blogs...boring, boring!). Love to read good books. A day whitout God, is a day whitout life...

Posted by: Tony Rosen at March 7, 2004 5:04 PMI'm Kelli....also known as Bryan's wife. I spend my time being a mother, wife, SS teacher, and writer.
I have freelance writing assignments until the beginning of June. I then will spend my summer learning how to file away rejection letters from publishers where I have submitted children's book manuscripts.
My goal for the spring & summer: learn how to hit a golf ball like Daisy Duck can on our Playstation 2 Disney Golf game.
I love reading Bryan's blog...and several others.
Posted by: Kelli at March 8, 2004 10:03 AMHi. I'm Bryan. I'm a husband, a father, a writer, an editor, a child of God by the grace of Jesus of Nazareth, the Messiah.
I'm honored that so many talented people have agreed to share their gifts of ministry through this blog and my prayer is that people will be entertained, blessed and challenged by what they read.
Posted by: Bryan at March 8, 2004 10:51 AMMy name is Jared. I blog with the Thinklings and at my own place, Mysterium Tremendum (although the latter's on hiatus right now). I'll turn 29 this fall. I have an awesome wife and I'm a stay-at-home dad to two incredible little girls -- one 2 year old and one 8 month old.
I'm also a writer trying to become a published novelist. I got an agent last summer who is trying to help me with that.
I also teach a small group on Jesus and the Gospels at church.
I like reading, watching movies, playing with my kids, and being a regular at my local Starbucks -- I play the part of the token struggling writer.
(Oh, yeah -- a pet peeve: I dislike comments sections that require email addresses. ;-)
Posted by: Jared at March 8, 2004 10:54 AMHi there. My name is Kyle *crowd* "Hello, Kyle." . . . and I'm addicted to Madden 2004.
"Thanks, Kyle, you can have a seat."
I am a former co-worker of our host (Bryan) and am now Director of Communications for a non-profit international missions organization in Mississippi. No, Mississippi is not a foreign country, we send people from Mississippi to Central America; specifically Honduras & Nicaragua. (Todd, I may be able to help you out on that career missionary thing)
I have a lovely wife and three small boys; so I have no free time either. And that immaginary free time is spent playing Madden 2004.
I'm looking forward to being a part of Spare Change™.

Thanks for the offer on the missions gig. I'm already hooked up with OMF International heading to a remote (hush-hush) region of east Asia. The "hopefully soon" verbiage was in regard to getting the necessary funding to head out.
Anyway, thanks for the intro and enjoy those hypothetical playstation games!
You should no longer have to put in an e-mail address to leave a comment.
