Satan's Offspring
Posted by Bryan

Christopher pointed me to an article providing insight to the freaky hairy-backed oldman/infant carried by Satan in The Passion.

I was totally off base on that one.

All this to say, I have seen the movie, and I'll add my thoughts soon -- I'm just wanting to add something unique to the discussion, because so much has already been said.

Oh, and on a related note...The Judas movie on ABC is as bad as The Passion is good. We've not watched it closely, but when Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, dude..." we realized we had seen new depths of bad TV.

Although Tim Matheson as Pilate....didn't see that one coming.

He didn't really say "dude," did he? I kept hearing it in my head during the little bit I watched, although I don't think they actually said it.

no, I was exaggerating. But not by much. It was bad, what little I saw, for the reasons you shared at your place. They had to create a back story to justify Pilate's actions. They hippified Jesus to look like a stoned beatnik amazed that he was on such a trippy ride, and they chose Van Wilder's dad as Pilate. ABC has erased any evidence of it from its website, by the way. They must be really proud.

Heh. I'm glad to know that my snap judgement without having seen the thing was pretty accurate. I do have the gift of discernment. ;-)
