Our coffee maker went kaput recently. It was one of the ones you get for free* through Gevalia's coffee-by-subscription program. Admittedly, Kelli puts our coffee makers through industrial use, but this one fell apart under relatively simple strain.
It did afford me the opportunity to dissect it in a McGyver-like effort to resurrect it. The cool thing is now I know how a coffee maker works. Just not this coffee maker.
I'm sure we'll be heading to WalMart very soon.
*it's really not free, once you finish paying for your overpriced coffee that isn't as good as what you get from the grocery store. We have a couple containers of Gevalia "special blend" that is "aging" for just the "right opportunity" to be given as a "highly valued gift."
Your stopping by the store tonight...aren't you?
Posted by: Kelli at March 11, 2004 3:50 PMI had a Gevalia coffee pot. And I like Gevalia coffee.
Posted by: jen at March 11, 2004 4:33 PMDid the pot hold up? Now I know what to send you as a gift!
Posted by: Bryan at March 11, 2004 5:51 PMIt was a 2-cupper that I got when I decided to start drinking coffee (that's a long, boring explanation) - yes, it held up. I quickly graduated to a 12-cup, under the cabinet, auto-timer, auto-turn off, etc. I love my coffee maker.
And I still have some Gevalia that I drink on occasion.

There... I have.
I am McGyver.
Tonight, for example, McGyver fashioned a new coffee maker out of a caffiene-deficient bride, a trip to WalMart, and a purchase with the Check-Card.
Posted by: Bryan at March 11, 2004 10:53 PMDon't you have to be independently wealthy to drink Gevalia Kaffe?
Posted by: Douglas at March 11, 2004 11:22 PMTo answer your question, let's just say that we no longer do...drink Gevalia.
Posted by: Bryan at March 12, 2004 7:43 AMDouglas, no. It costs about what Starbucks costs. It's a little pricey, but not exhorbitant.
