The following (edited) was in my office inbox, offering sick and twisted fare for every flavor of deviant:
Here's a summary from Code Fish Spam Watch:
As we can se it's quite similar to the "You have ordered child porn" emails we wrote up in early Febuary. This one simply attempts to stir up outrage by using child porn and terrorism in order to get the contact points on the email in trouble. A little bit of checking revealed some interesting facts.

This site is a surprisingly open site for "carders", otherwise known as people who trade stolen credit card details and other materials between themselves to be used for other insidous purposes. A quick browse throught site shows posts for people reporting "credit card dumps", requesting spamming services, advertising of open proxies and selling storage space for illegal web sites. We guess because of the websites location they don't have much to fear.

This sites looks legitimate. It appears to be a Russian ISP and some digging does show that they host the DNS records for the above carder site. Wether they are aware of this is debatable.
ICQ# (deleted)
A quick bit of digging on the carder site reveals this ICQ number belongs to "DON" who apparently is the president of the site.
So what we appear to have here is a fake email designed to get this carder site and it's supporting network in trouble. We don't think this has been sent out by any vigilante group and feel that it's more likely that a rival carder gang is doing it in order to reduce competition. Our inboxes are simply victims of the crossfire in this turf war.
Good grief...this is one sad, sorry world we all share.

Talk about a suprise ending.
Do you read most of your spam?
Posted by: Christopher at March 15, 2004 7:44 PMNo, not usually, but I cannot "blanket delete" my office spam because sometimes there is a legit email from a men's group tucked in there. also, the offensive language of that one --- namely, 'how to make a bomb' caught my eye for reporting to our IT guys.
