Kerry On, My Wayward Son (Episode 58)
Posted by Bryan

I received an email telling me that someone posted a comment to this post, dated March 9, linking to AP "news" that John Kerry is a highly decorated Viet Nam Veteran. In case you missed it, here's Yahoo's compendium. No, the media aren't working at all pro bono, are they?

I understand that there's been much speculation of late by Republicans that this man with a demonstratable history of opportunism may have indeed manipulated a system to garner for himself a Purple Heart. That speculation has not been voiced here, by me. I've never served in a war, and I've always been appreciative of those who have, from the enthusiastic to do so to the reluctant.

I have expressed before that my only lament over Kerry's service is that he returned from service (where others more informed than I can affirm or refute his exploits of bravery) to criticize, condemn, and slander his brethren still there. He continued his "service to America" using duplicity, grand-standing, and inconsistency to advance his own cause all the way to the present day. If he earned his Purple Heart the hard way, good on ya, Senator. Just don't ask me to stand and cheer for you now, as you show that your purple heart still bleeds profusely today.

so speaking out against a war based on lies because you don't want more American people to die for an unwinnable cause is slander?

he didn't criticize the troops, he criticized the decision made to send the troops to vietnam.

if speaking out against our government's actions in the hopes that their lies are exposed and that the real truth comes to the surface is going to be labeled as wrong, what kind of democracy do we have?

dissent is patriotic.
