Today's a Big Day
Posted by Bryan

Sorry the blogging has been light (in terms of number of posts, not length). Everything culminates today, in terms of the work I've been doing for, well, basically since I've come on to staff at the Board. The small group study Men@WORK is unveiled to the building (our 400 staff) today, by means of a lunch launch event. We (our specific group, adult mission education) is paying for lunch for everyone who comes down. We're having a variety of home improvement/construction type games, crafts, and demonstrations for the participants, including:

  • rider lawn mower obstacle course

  • 2-man saw woodcutting race

  • tool belt relays

  • washer toss competition

  • nail cross building craft

  • nail driving competition

  • faux painting demonstration

  • an "ask the expert" booth

To the participants who visit all the areas, they'll be eligible for one of several fabulous prizes, including home depot gift cards and a family pack of 4 Atlanta Braves tickets.

The idea here is not just to promote the book internally (though that certainly is one intention), but also how to model a launch event to the staff that they can take back to their church or men's group.

My responsibility today will be to man the table where the manuscripts will be distributed. I'm a bit like Julie from the Love Boat today, directing people to the Lido deck for shuffleboard. I'll point folks to the different activities and answer questions about the resource.

So, to keep you entertained, take a few minutes and visit the Bonfire of the Vanities, where folks put up their worst or oddest posts. This week it's hosted by Swirlspice.

And I've agreed to host the Christian Carnival, where folks share their favorite Christ-centered or religious post of the previous link. If you want to be included, shoot me an email at bmcanallyATN0Sp@MbellsouthD0Tnet (remove the nospam, of course). Just put "Christian Carnival" in the header, so I don't accidentally delete you as a spammer. It might bring you a few new readers and may even bless someone along the way. You have until 8PM eastern to get it in my inbox.
