I've Arrived
Posted by Bryan

After a loooooong day of travel, I am here in Cochrane, Alberta, Canada. It's really pretty. The long string of the Canadian Rockies is quite beautiful. I'm planning on driving to Banff on Friday (about an hour to the west) to get a closer look.

I had grand designs of being a tourist last night. I got here about 4 p.m., after about 12 hours of travel (including all the airport time), and found out where my class will be today. Then I dined at a recommended restaurant, came home (the seminary is housing me in a very nice little studio apartment) and fell asleep until 4:45 a.m.

My allergies are acting up. I was hoping that once I came to the clean air of the great North, I'd be okay. No such luck.

I feel like a huge dork (so what's new?). This is the first time I've ever been anywhere where metric is the preferred system. Or where I've used a currency other than mine own. Or celsius instead of farenheit. So I have no idea how far away anything is or what anything costs. Or what the temperature is.

I read a sign that says, "Exit 500 m" and all I can refer to is my days in high school track. But that was a 400 m oval, so it really doesn't help me. All I know is I better get over soon. I still have no idea what I paid for my meal last night -- if the price was in Canadian or US dollars. The lady at the front desk at the seminary just smiled and said, "your money will be reeeeeal good here."

Okaaay....that doesn't help me.

Last night I watched the weather forecast, and just waited for the "five days for dummies" part where the guy said, "tomorrow will be mild."

THANK YOU. That's all I'm asking. I see that it's going to be 18 and my farenheit-oriented mind is lamenting for lack of a down coat.

I'm looking forward to the class...It's always a joy to talk about challenging men to make a difference in their world, through the indwelling power of Jesus, who, lest you not know, is the Christ of God and Messiah of humanity.
