The other night, Kelli and I watched all three hours of the AFI's Top 100 Movie Songs. Accordingly, Kelli was subjected to three hours of me singing not-quite on-key, and not-quite lyrically-accurate renditions of the AFI's Top 100 movie songs.
We really enjoyed the show, but frankly, we were in wide disagreement with the selections. We felt as though the voting committee had waaaaaay too much affection for Fred Astaire, Judy Garland, and Barbra Streisand. In fact, there were ample selections found in the 400 nominations to make a much better, much more well-represented show.
With that in mind...I'm introducing the first concurrent Top 5ive category:
Top 5ive Movie Songs Not in the AFI Top 100 List:
1. Bohemian Rhapsody (Wayne's World)
2. The Ballad of Cat Ballou (Cat Ballou)
3. Amazing Grace (Tommy Boy -- Not Silkwood)
4. Don't You [Forget About Me] (The Breakfast Club)
5. I'm Alright (Caddyshack)
Check out the nominations, and make your own Top 5ive list in the comments (you'll find the rules there), and let's teach the world to sing in three-part harmony.
There's still time to contribute to Top 5ive 6.0 - The Top 5ive ESPN Catch-Phrases.
