Top 5ive Old Testament Personalities:
1. Joseph
2. Daniel
3. Ruth
4. Esther
5. Moses
Consider the details, the impact, the opposition, and the message each provides...who do you think is Top 5ive, and why?
BUMP: As Christopher and I get our OT personalities lined out, in respect to the musicals in which they star, my two oldest children get into the discussion (in the comments area)
My "Go Go" Song:

Christopher's "Go Go" Song:

OK, you've got good people there, but...
1. Abraham
2. Daniel
3. David
4. Esther
5. Moses
You have to have Abraham - he's the father of nations. You have to have David because of his part in the lineage of Jesus.
Posted by: jen at July 5, 2004 5:21 PMEsther and Ruth certainly present interesting stories and do have much to say, but in terms of significance throughout redemptive history it seems hard to put them in the top 5.
1. Adam (contrasted to the "new Adam" in Christ in Romans)
2. Abraham - the establishment of the covenant of grace for Abe and his descendants.
3. Moses - through whom God delivers his people from bondage and gives his Law to Israel.
3. David - the promise of an eternal reign of his line... fulfilled in Christ.
4. Joshua - the promise of conquest and entrance into the land is fulfilled under his leadership.
Abraham
Moses
David
Ruth
Joseph
Moses
Elijah
Ruth
Joseph - Great now I've got "Go, go, go Joseph" stuck in my head.
Noah - built a big boat in the middle of the desert for cryin' out loud.
I considered argueing for Jesus, supposedly he was in the fire with S, M, and A but that might have been contested and even worse it might have been considered a "Sunday School" answer.

Posted by: Bryan at July 6, 2004 1:04 PM1. Elijah -- Showdown on the mountain!
2. Joseph -- I have relied on his example many times
3. Noah -- You're right Christopher...what a picture of faith!
4. Daniel -- a whole life of dedication...he's got to be on this list
5. Ruth -- an OT picture of the church, purchased by our Kinsman Redeemer!
Bryan,
You might be thinking of...
"Jonah was a prophet
(oo-ooh!)
but he really never got it
(sad but true!)
and if you watch him you can spot it
(a-doodley-doo!)
he did not get the point!
Go, go, go Joseph is from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Okay, I am freaking everyone out here. Sorry.
Posted by: Christopher at July 8, 2004 1:40 AMGo go jonah go Jonah go go (repeat)

Its' from a musical that 5th graders did when I was first saved, and Kelli was a leader in kids' choir.
I don't think I've ever watched Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat closely.

Here are mine:
"Go, go, go Joseph you know what they say
Hang on now Joseph you'll make it some day
Don't give up Joseph fight till you drop
We've read the book and you come at on top."
