"Take Me Out, Too!" -- The Ballgame
Posted by Bryan

How did I miss altogether the MLB All-Star Game, the Home Run Derby, aaaAAAaaaand basically everything whatsoever having to do with what could be the lamest event in professional sporting (though the NHL, NBA, and NFL are all doing their best to out-lame this lame-fest)?

Oh, that's right...its because I couldn't care less. I am a Colorado Rockies fan, which probably tells you all you need to know. Even so, I have lost my ardor for professional baseball, with the roided out muscle-heads, the horrible pitching, and the outrageous prices. I join Bob Costas in the opinion that what muscle-enhancing drugs have done to the game is far more devastating that what Pete Rose did. Like so many professional sports, the greed of the owners and players has resulted in a torrent of cosmetic changes that is designed to make the game prettier, but has only wrecked something that was already beautiful.

I still enjoy the pure moments...Johnson's perfect game, the most noticeable illustration. Unfortunately, these rare gems are buried in a overwhelmingly long season of low batting averages, high ERAs, poor sportmanship and inflated egos.

Wake me up around game four of the World Series.

Oh, and on another yawn-inducing quasi-related note, the brick-laying behomoth known as Shaq Daddy is now in Heat. Yes, this makes Miami better. Better than what? Put him up against a half-price Early Dinner Special at Furrs, and you'll see where the South Florida crowds gather.

Yeah, I missed the All Star events as well. No biggie, for some reason.
