Advance Screening
Posted by Bryan

When The Passion of the Christ neared its release, a savvy Mel Gibson provided advance screenings to likely-sympathetic audiences. The move firmed up a strong support base, increased promotion, and conjured controversy. It was a brilliant move, and I confess once again to initial jealousy toward those fine folks who were fortunate enough to be included in those opportunities.

Now, however, the proverbial shoe is now on the proverbial other foot. I have been invited, along with my coworkers and colleagues, to an advance screening of a soon-to-be released movie. This screening will likely firm up support, increase promotion, and maybe even conjure some controversy. Please, despite what must be intrinsically jealousy-inducing to you, please withhold your contempt for me at the revelation of my good fortune.

Tonight, my family joins me in an advance screening of a much talked about movie. The story is well-known, and has a history of causing divisions. Tonight, all matters will be settled, for tonight the definitive statement will be made when the much-ballyhooed movie is finally shown.

By the way, we're expecting to have time to talk about the movie with the producer and the movie's star actor.

Seriously, I am jealous. I love, love, love Benji.

Have a great time!

Okay, when I was young I loved Benji (although I was really much more of a Lassie fan), but that time has passed. Maybe if I had kids...

Anyway, the best possible part of the movie screening for me would be the chance to scratch the little guy behind the ears.

Could you ask the actor a question for me?

"Ruff ruff ruuuuff ruff bow wow ruf rrrrrrrr ruff?"

Thanks.
