I received the sad news today that a friend and former coach of mine died in a car accident on Friday. He was with in a car with a coworker and the coworker's family. The coworker fell asleep at the wheel and collided with a propane truck. Mike Deyo, my friend and coach was ejected from the vehicle and was dead on the scene. The coworker was pulled from the vehicle by the propane truck driver. The coworker's wife was also ejected from the vehicle and was flown to a hospital with severe head injuries. Her status is unclear, but not promising. The family also had a 1 year old child who died in the accident, due to the inability of rescuers to get the baby and remove him (her?) from the car seat as the vehicle burned.
Please remember to pray for the Deyo family, particularly Mike's two teenage children. Mike was a gifted small-college football player, an excellent coach, and a good man. A few years ago, I had the honor of being with Mike when he by faith placed the security of his eternal life in the hands of Jesus, the Christ of God. I praise God today with a sad heart for the promise of a joyful reunion one day in glory.
