I'm saddened by the US basketball loss to Lithuania. I don't blame the coaches. I blame the players. Those who were too important to attend. Those who were too important to be a team. Those who were important to play defense. Those who were too important to be bothered with the pedantic work of developing skills to complement their abilities and giftedness.
I can watch fencing bouts in their entirety and have no understanding whatsoever how this sport's winner is determined. Perhaps a sound effect might help, offered whenever a scoring point is obtained.
Those water polo guys who are sitting on the bench while the game is playing really need to cover up with a towel. I don't need to see that....even incidentally. Seriously.
August 21, 2004 4:43 PMThe basketball team is the embodiment of everything that is wrong with professional sports in the US. Greed is a motivational killer. I say bring back the college kids.
I had the same thought about the water polo guys and I'm so, so, so grateful to whomever invented the new swimwear. I find the longer shorts and full suits to be sexier, too. ;-)
