Because the Rockies perpetually stink, I've been an outsider to professional baseball the past few years.
Ken Caminiti's death.
Barry Bond's unnatural growth.
Pathetic pitching.
However, it is this time of year when the vestige of purity that remains lures me back to the game. Granted, in both the ALCS and NLCS, you have competitions that in the past wouldn't have been allowed since division champs are playing runners-up from the same division. Even so, in both circumstances, both CS pit the two best teams against one another.
I'm more vested in the NLCS, since my brother-in-law is a big 'Stros fan, and my brother-in-DNA is a lifelong Cards fan.
I'm rooting for Boston, I guess, mostly for Randy. I'm afraid his prospects are dim, though.
I probably won't catch more than an inning here or there until we get to the clinching game of the World series. That I might watch. Especially if Boston's involved.
October 15, 2004 1:13 PMThanks, Bryan. All support for the Red Sox is appreciated, although probably not actually efficacious.
I think their chances look pretty decent right now.
I agree with Christopher. I'd like to be playing the Cards in the World Series.
