Blog Explosion Discoveries
Posted by Bryan

After just a few days of being part of Blog Explosion, I've learned the following...

  • The increase in traffic will come. It's sporadic, but inevitable.

  • The profanity filter doesn't function correctly.

  • When you're supposed to click on the little number to get 'credit' for hitting a site, they aren't kidding. And once it's gone, baby, it's gone.

  • I don't really understand how the system works, with the referrals and the banners and such, but as in much else in life, total ignorance is not much of an inhibitor in the experience.

  • The potential for the "mystery credits" keeps you poppin for the next site like an ephedra-addled lab rat trying to make it through the maze to the pile of Trimspa at the end.

Yeah, I'm more than a little confused on the whole credits thing. I notice occasional traffic, but nothing major yet.

In the 9 days I have been on Blog Explosion I have enjoyed it very much.

Referrals - Since you signed up when you clicked the banner with my user name, I get you as a referral. As a result I make 10% of the credits that you make. I don't take them from you I just get them. I also have a level two referral. Someone who signed up through someone who signed up through me. I get 10% of those too. If I had enough referrals, I would never have to surf to earn credits.

Banners - I purchase banner impressions with the 20% of the credits that do not go to have my blog in the surfing rotation. Every credit I spend I get my banner shown 25 times at the top. My own banner, has been shown 2,284 times and has generated 277 clicks with a click thru rate of 12.13%. What is the point in people clicking banners? You can earn Mystery Points! In fact I have heard some of the largest awards come from clicking the banners.

Well there goes a good two minutes I could have been surfing in writing this out! Gotta go!!!!!

Need. More. Mystery. Points.

That's the difference between your banner and mine...yours is dynamic, hence draws better turn...mine, like so much I do, is a cheap c&p of the banner above.

Blasted lack of technical skills has snakebit me again!

One quick Q -- what's the dis/advantage to changing your 75% default setting. I don't get that at all.

Actually I had no reason for doing it. I just did. I think I made that change before I knew what was going on.

It does give me more of my credits going to people surfing onto my blog and less for buying banners and entering the lotto and the like.
