I just wanted to pause for a moment to state the obvious.
Blog Explosion works.
I've seen my traffic increase significantly since hitching my caboose to this nifty wagon train. For me, it's not so much that I get to see a spike in my traffic graphs (although this is a secondary benefit). For me, its about knowing that I'm being introduced to new readers and new opinions. Readers are obligated to spend only 30 seconds at your site. Whether or not you connect really is a reflection of your content. The free market at work.
Conversely, the same system of surfing for traffic credits has introduced me to several other fine blogs. I've rolled a few, and anticipate much more of this. It's been great to see the spectrum of other thinkers out there, even if you have to wade through a few stinkers, drinkers, and linkers to do so (for all I know, they might be saying the same about me).
I know many of you have already tagged on because I see your sites show up in the random search process. But for the many of you who have not, I encourage you to sign up and take part. Then encourage others to do the same, because you get residuals from their own surftimes.
This may look a little like multi-level marketing. Only unlike Amway, there's no cost and the product is one you'll use (that is, if you have a use for the regular discovery of decent writing that educates, inspires, entertains, or infuriates).

So, as long as you get more people through, it's better? Even though they only stay for 30 seconds, read nothing, and move on once they are able to to get their points? So, basically, they're mostly only costing you bandwidth (which gets pricey if you get enough people through), and you aren't really getting anything in return ...
I'm just saying.
Posted by: Tony Rosen at December 13, 2004 9:39 AMNow there you getting all pragmatic on me.
As you know better than most, I know not of this "bandwidth" of which you speak, nor of other technical matters.
What I do know is that more people coming over gives more chances to influence as well as more opportunities to interact. I welcome the day when I have so much traffic I have to make some decisions about taking this to the next level of commitment, eg., having to actually pay for said services.
Just so you know, UC, you teased with my emotions when I saw the "1" under the comments, thinking I had a new referral! That'll learn me.

Posted by: Tony Rosen at December 13, 2004 3:12 PMAs I have written at WIT?!?!? it is all about the Mystery Points and finding other blogs for me.
Posted by: Christopher at December 13, 2004 9:49 PMHey, I actually HAVE gotten a few more regulars through BE -- including one atheist who I spent several days 'commenting' with in a post that just hit the archive pages today.
And I've found a few good blogs to read -- one or two are on the blogroll now. And I usually waste a half hour or so mindlessly surfing -- now I get viitors to my site as I do it!
