Former Texas Rangers Skipper Johnny Oates died on Christmas Eve, returning to the Lord who created him.
He was 58.
Some day in eternity, I'll be able to tell him how he was at the helm at my daughter Kaylyn's first baseball game, a Texas heater in the first year of interleague where the Rangers drubbed the Rockies 8-1. Kaylyn slept from the first pitch to the final out, too.
Oates was a good man who learned his lessons in time.
