Tsunami II
Posted by Bryan

I don't know where I saw this image, but i've revisited probably a dozen times.

I'm amazed at how quickly....2 hours...this impacted such a large area of the world.

When the waters subside, literally...it will be worth looking at the changed landscape.

To this end, Digital Globe has before and after pictures, comparing satellite images from Jan 1 of this year to Dec. 26. Pretty amazing, and yet the big picture doesn't begin to capture the scope of the devastation.

As I examine these images and hear/read the stories of the loss of life, of land, and of history, I can't help but to review the case for the biblical flood...

11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, on the seventeenth day of the second month-on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened. 12 And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.... 17 For forty days the flood kept coming on the earth, and as the waters increased they lifted the ark high above the earth. 18 The waters rose and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water. 19 They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered. 20 The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than twenty feet. [b] , [c] 21 Every living thing that moved on the earth perished-birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind. 22 Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died. 23 Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out; men and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds of the air were wiped from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark. 24 The waters flooded the earth for a hundred and fifty days.
    -- Exodus 711-12,17-24

Seeing this devastation affirms what I already believe, that when the waters of the earth were released from above and below, all of creation experienced a violent calamity of judgment that we've not seen since.

Now, I do believe in God's promise that He won't visit this type of judgment upon man again, so I don't consider this tragedyof 2004 to be a judgment.

However, to the friend who asks me if this is an indicator that we are indeed living in the this article to very informative and explanatory about the phenomenon of tsunamis)
