Please don't construe my lack of posting as an abdication of the blog. Real life has been busy and full.
March 1 was Kelsi's third birthday. We had lots of fun, except for the nasty strawberry frosting that she wanted on her yummy chocolate cake. I know I'm now a frumpy, grumpy old man because the sickening sweet, fake-flavored icing made me cringe rather than yell with glee (as it did her). In the two bites I took before scraping it off onto her My Little Pony® birthday plate , I lost any capacity to enjoy the treat as I wondered what damage the frosting's dyes were doing to my innards, whereas she tore into it with wanton abandon altogether disregarding any unnatural intestinal pigmentation.

When it came time for opening gifts, Kelsi did pretty well, showing equal excitement for socks as she did for the soap-bubble maker as she did for the pink baseball glove as she did for the cards her brother and sister made for her. Then we told her to cover her eyes, which as you can tell, she dutifully did. That's when she was introduced to her first bicycle.
I stayed up late the night before putting this Barbie special together, excitedly anticipating her impending joy, yet slightly jealous that *I* never had a bike this cool, with the handlebar tassles and high-gloss sparkly paint job. And, let's just say I determined that this 12-inch wasn't equipped to transport a full-grown man. I just had to find that out for myself.

She was pleased with the gift and has immediately requested training. I've added that to my "to do" list, and hope to get to it before she turns four.
Kelsi is my "Li'l Bit" and I'm so glad I get to be her daddy. She brings a smile to my face every single day, from the way she'll walk into a room and say, "I just love you!" to how she'll snuggle close and say in confidence, "you can tickle me if you want to," then pull her shirt up to expose a giggle-ready tummy. She has been uniquely molded by her sister and her brother, and she is a wonderful blessing from God.
Kelsi shares her birthday with her Aunt Shari, a fact that she considers to be very cool, primarily because she thinks Aunt Shari to be so very cool. We all agree with that estimation.
Finally, I was able to be the first to personally wish Christopher a happy birthday, but fear I'll be among the last to do so by way of the blogosphere. I appreciate your friendship and remember you with gratitude in my prayers. I hope your birthday was fun and special.
She is a cutie! Happy Birthday Kelsi.
