Terri-fied
Posted by Bryan

I've heretofore been silent on Terri Schiavo's ordeals. Not in my prayer time, just here online. With news of her feeding tube being pulled, that changes.

Others have spoken well and eloquently on the matter, and I don't know that I could add anything that hasn't already been said, or even said better. Yet, here's the thing...

One of my long-standing arguments against abortion is that the preborn are denied their civil rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This same fundamental screams silently from the hospital bed where Terri lay dying, due to the unconstitutional decision of activist judges and criminal behavior of her husband.

I'm deeply troubled at the mindset that allows the civil rights of one person to trump those of another. I do believe we are judged by the Almighty by standard of how we treat our weakest, most needy citizens. By this measure, our existence is wholly a testimony to God's long-suffering grace and mercy.

I'm not a proponent of using extra-ordinary measures to preserve vital statistics on a person who would otherwise swiftly die. Were he himself living, even Ray Charles could see that what is being done to Terri is nothing short of subjecting her to a torturous murder. There is nothing civil or humane about it. I pray for intercession.

Yes, I was saddened to hear the news earlier today. Especially after it looked as if she was going to make it. I still think that there is time. All we can do is pray at this point.
