This Just In...I, too, Love Raymond
Posted by Bryan

Kelli and I watched "Finale" tonight...

Well done.

After soooo many let-down, contrived endings of other situation comedies, the writers and actors of this show got it right. Without changing the style or tempo of what made this show the entertaining standard that it was, the final episode even pulled off a bit of a creative "let's put a scare into you," before wrapping everything up nicely in a bow...yet leaving the perception that life indeed goes on.

We weren't fans of the show the way we were with Seinfeld or Friends, but I've probably seen most episodes of ELR, thanks to syndication, and this finale trumped both of the aforementioned's. And while I never really appreciated all the yelling and screaming, all the idiot Ray and griping Deborah...there were plenty of laughs and good humor. As I look at the TV comedy landscape, with ELR passing...not many offerings, and with what I consider to be among the best prospects (Scrubs and Arrested Development) being lined up for cancellation or banishment to bad time slots....

Well, at least we have the reliability of dramas like Alias and Lost, where from week-to-week, you can pretty much count on something almost happening.
