Kelli and I purchased new cell phones a few weeks ago, and I've been on a relentless quest to find the perfect ringtone.
My first effort was the CU Fight Song...or so I thought. When I played it, co-worker Melissa immediately identified it as the Georgia fight song. It turns out, my Buffaloes' "Glory Colorado" song was ripped off from inspired by the fine Bulldogs of Georgia, and who knows where else. There is a difference between the Buffs' fight song and their glory song, and because I didn't know how to preview my choices, I flew in blind, and chose wrong.
Only a couple days later, I chose Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone," because (if you've read Spare Change before today, you known I'm unexplainably entranced by this song) I thought I'd be uber-cool with this ring tone. Turns out, when the phone rings with this tone, Kelly starts screaming at me from my hip holster about what a no-good snake she thinks me to be. After four consecutive jumps out of my shoes, it was back to Ring-tones-o-Rama for a new selection.
This is where I thought brilliance hit....while we were waiting for Kelsi Girl to come out of surgery, I shopped and wrote down every possible potential ring tone I might like. There were like 25 or so. Then, I entered into a process with my bride where she'd eliminate one choice and then I'd protect one for the next round. This took some of the burden off of me in that she could exercise the better judgment that seems to be eluding me in this endeavor. Also, if I were passionate about a choice, she'd either have to aggressively go after it if she hated it more, or else I'd save it for future consideration.
So, it took 5 or 6 rounds (the scintillating details have grown fuzzy), but we reduced it down to a final ring tone.
Notice, I didn't say "winning ring tone."
To say I'm happy with this selection would be an overstatement. It's not horrible, but probably it probably doesn't communicate the message I'd like to convey as a minister.
What do you suggest I download as my ringtone?
May 23, 2005 4:03 PMI use the "24" phone ring on my phone.
You know. Boop boop bee doop.
It is the sound that their phone makes when there is an interoffice call.
Different. Yet not weird.
On another note, I think the Best Buys in this area use the same phone system that they use on 24 because they have the same boop boop bee doop.
Posted by: Christopher at May 23, 2005 6:49 PMOh, and for just Michael, I have the Looney Toons song.
Posted by: Christopher at May 23, 2005 6:51 PMChristopher - the phone rings on 24 are what I hear all day long at my office. I think we bought the same brand of phone when we upgraded a couple of years ago. It kind of cracked me up.
Posted by: jen at May 23, 2005 10:08 PMI really liked my Alias ringtone, but do prefer the Dallas TV theme song right now, since we ARE relocating to the area and all!
Posted by: Kelli at May 24, 2005 9:39 AMYou've made good choices with your ringtones...although as many calls as you've been taking lately with the realtor and so on, I wonder if you're going to be sick of the Dallas song by the time we arrive there.
Posted by: Bryan at May 24, 2005 9:57 AMMaybe that phone system is government issue. :)
