I'm certainly willing to be convinced that my opinion is ill-informed, but on a cursory read, I agree with the logic behind limiting the term of Supreme Court Justices.
July 25, 2005 1:25 PMI tend to agree with my good friend and former colleague. Although it is temporal, what exists now is, in a sense, absolute power. Even the President of the United States has a limited term in office, although it would be great if Bush stayed around a little while longer. I believe that justices should have a max term lasting longer than any one president's term. If the justices switched with every new president then we would have a situation of complete, single-party majority in the presidency and the supreme court. Having overlap would almost guarantee some bipartisanship.
