This is the logo I created for our Discipleship ministry.
Well, kinda.
The final incarnation brought the "G" and the "o" into more equitable size, nixed the letters on the "o" that represented the four mission fields of Acts 1:8, and also eliminated the cascading circles that obscure the globe, and also removed the text below the logo. Terminal decision was based on the fact that none of those things would be readable as the logo was reduced in size for various applications.
We chose the name Go4 for the Discipleship ministry based on the Great Commission, but also on the reality that every discipleship strategy should have an outcome that results in the disciple "going forth." In doing so, you'd see the Acts 1:8 challenge being fulfilled. The discipleship process also is marked by the four measures listed in this logo.
The one fun thing about the logo is that we can change the map as we adapt and use it for opportunities that are contextually different. If we are sending a group down to do work on the Texas/Mexico border, we can insert a map of the area there. If we send a team to Russia, we can do the same. It's geek-neato that way.
What this logo represents is much more cool than the logo itself (which may or may not be saying much, depending upon your opinion). Starting in two weeks, we have over 25 discipleship opportunities for the people of our church, including Experiencing God, MasterLife, Beth Moore's new study on the Patriarchs, and several others. Our discipleship will offer units on doctrine, Christian living, missiology, and even Scripture memorization. I am so proud of our church family.
As a minister, sometimes it can be difficult finding people to step up and step out and lead classes. This was such an awesome experience for me...people were so willing to pitch in and make the fall a time of growth and ministry development. I'm excited beyond words to see what God will do with us and the plans he has for our church to impact eternity.
We are where we belong.
