It's 2:25 AM...the church is mostly quiet.
We have just sent off a little girl to the hospital with possible appendix problems.
It's been a day, that's for certain.
Shari, Kelli's sister, was released. They attributed her accident to low blood sugar, but I'm a little speculative that there's more to the situation, in that the people at the store where she fell said that she did experience a seizure.
What was so chaotic about that was that Kelli was actually at the hospital here in Grapevine with an evacuee named Rosa who is 39 weeks preggers and had just spent 19 hours in a car. Her ankles were the size of Toledo, and people were a little concerned.
Anyway, we arrived back home in time for me to get about 2 hours of shut-eye before returning here.
I was able to spend about 90 minutes talking with Viet Le, a Katrina evacuee who has been living with his family in shelters for one month. They evacuated to Houston, only to be encouraged to head North in the spectre of Rita. We had an awesome conversation where he shared stories of a wild neighbor in his village beack in Vietnam who was suddenly mysteriously paralyzed and eventually cured by the prayer of a missionary. Viet had several stories about witnessing the power of God. Please pray for me in having wisdom to effectively communicate the grace of God in providing salvation through Jesus alone. I hope to find a Vietnamese pastor tomorrow, or at the least find a Bible that is in his language.
We also received the very sad news that our friend Kari died this morning. She was 37. Please pray for her parents Mary Lou & Bill, her sister Lori, and of course her husband and children as they mourn their loss. Her funeral will be in our home town, Craig.
