MacGyver Meets Griswold
Posted by Bryan

We're getting ready to head out on the Tour of Insanity 2005. This year's TOI takes us to Colorado, then down through Albuquerque before returning home. This isn't the biggest TOI ever (it'd be difficult to match the 2003 TOI where we ended up traversing 59 of the states of the Union).

We had a little difficulty this morning when I was trying to load the luggage carrier, only to discover that one of the mounting plates was missing. I'm sure that wherever I misplaced it was the perfectly logical home for it at the time, but that context has changed entirely, and is now entirely illogical, so therefore, completely unfindable.

So, with no mounting plate at my disposal, I went looking for a replatement (Get it? I'm clever that way). I found just such an implement in my recently displaced expired license plates from Colorado (yes, from Colorado...not Georgia...yes, I'm horrible, and extremely penitent for my slight to the Georgia Dept. of Revenue....NAMB friends, you'll be happy to know that I'm legal to drive in Texas...and to return to Colorado).

Anyway, the plate posed a problem in that it wasn't an exact match...So I cut it in half(ish) with some antique tin snips. Pounded a hole through it with nail and hammer, and then enlarged it with the power drill.

Voila!

New plate!

So, if you find yourself on Highway 287, avoiding the large luggage carrier that unexplainably detaches from Dodge Durango from whence it came....

Well, that's just the McAnally McFamily, on its way to grandmother's house. Pull over and help us pick up our clothes.

If you're having problem with spammers, install a Capcha plugin so that bots can't just fill your site up with ads. I started having problems, too, but once I added the image verification, my spam went to zero immediately. And it doesn't make it that much more inconvenient for your legitimate commenters to still stop by and leave a quick note.
