I Tunes Multiples
Posted by Bryan

I'm not ready to find my ITunes Signature, as did Christopher, mostly because I'm not smart enough.

However, I was insomniacal enough to chart my ITunes multiples. I'm defining "multiples" either as versions of the same song, saved three or more times, having been performed by different artists, or -- even more fun at 2 AM in the throes of sleeplessness-- like titled songs that have little or nothing else in common. Twins are too common (to wit, my Michael W. Smith & Tim Hughes versions of Here I am to Worship), and have been excluded . I also excluded holiday songs...because I just get stupid around Christmas and I have way too many versions of all those classics. One other thing...Missin' You is not the same as Missing You, for the record.

So here are my multiples:

  • Aint No Mountain High Enough (3x -- Anthony Burger, Diana Ross & the Supremes, Marvin Gaye & Tammie Terrell)

  • Amazing Grace (6x -- Not Listed, Eden's Bridge, Jars of Clay, Boys II Men, Karen Ring [our church harpist], Louis Armstrong)

  • Breathe (4x -- Not counting Faith Hill's song of the same name, done by a not listed, Newsboys, Michael W. Smith, and 722)

  • Don't Be Cruel (3x -- Bobby Brown, Elvis, Cheap Trick)

  • Downtown (3x -- Mrs. Elva Miller, Petula Clark, & Sarah Masen)

  • Dreams (3x -- Diana DiGarmo, Fleetwood Mac, Van Halen)

  • Forever (3x -- Chris Tomlin, United Live, Jeffrey B. Scott)

  • Friends (3x -- Anthony Burger, Led Zepellin, & Michael W. Smith)

  • I Love You Lord (3x -- Eden's Bridge, Ardent Worship, & Laurie Klein)

  • Let My Words Be Few (3x -- Matt Redman, Rebecca St. James, Passion Worship Band)

  • Live & Let Die (3x -- Eric Kunzel, Wings, GnR)

  • Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds (3x -- Beatles, Elton John, William Shatner)

  • Magic (4x -- Olivia Newton John, Stimulator, Ben Folds Five, The Cars)

  • Missing You (3x -- John Waite, Puff Daddy & Faith Evans, and Kathy Troccoli)

  • Morning Has Broken (3x -- Cat Stevens, Pam Tillis, Country Mountain Hymns)

  • My Way (3x -- Elvis, Il Divo, Paul Anka)

  • Rock of Ages (3x -- Country Mountain Hymns, Def Leppard, Praise Band)

I believe I only have 1 song that qualifies here:

Fever, performed by 1) The Bobs, 2) Over The Rhine, and 3) Ray Charles and Natalie Cole.

Oh, nope, found another one:

In Christ Alone, performed by 1) Brian Littrell (from WOW #1's CD), 2) The Newsboys (from Adoration), and 3) PK7 (Promise Keepers).

If you want a fourth version of "Missing You," check out David Wilcox. In my opinion, it is the definitive version.
