This time, it is
Strangely, I was just listening to some of Burger's music yesterday while working, and I remember thinking how gifted he was. I don't think that too often. Thinking about it, I feel the same way about Mr. Knotts. As far as playing "grumpy dad" figures, McGavin excelled, so kudos for that.
Now, this wasn't a true triple play, since Burger died last Wednesday. But I just heard about it this morning, which is well within the 18-hour buffer mandated by rules governing triple-shot obituaries.*
Knotts was 91, McGavin 83, and Burger 44. Just another friendly reminder that each was just the right age to die. Burger claimed the promises of heaven while he was on this earth, and enjoys eternal life with God. I can only hope the other two did as well and rejoice with him even now and forever more.
Have you settled this matter for yourself?
*I just made all that up. I'm not sure if any such rules exist, and if they do, would the commissioner enforce them?
February 26, 2006 7:07 PMIf you want the true 'trifecta' in deaths, the actor Dennis Weaver died the same weekend as Don Knotts and Darrin McGavin.
