Petty Theft is the name of the Tom Petty tribute band that gets a lot of free pub by the local sports talk station, due to the fact that one of its talking heads is part of the band.
And on a related note, there's a new Spare Change blog. Only it is not an homage site, from all indications.
I know some of you have dealt with someone else John Jacob Jingle Heimer Smith-ing your blog. Let me know how you handled it.
Confessionally, this is one time I'm just not willing to say "keep the Change." I've grown accustomed to her face here.
There's a Catholic blog called A View From the Pew. I get more hits, and I'm ranked higher for the View From the Pew name on Google, so I don't complain. I really don't care about it, personally.
Only way you'll have a problem is if she tries to trademark the name. Of course, you've been out here longer, so it wouldn't fly.
Posted by: Warren at February 26, 2006 10:04 PMThe name of my blog is "Gobbleblog". Now, you would think that the name Gobbleblog is stupid enough that no one would use it, or want it for that matter. But, alas, this turned out to not be the case. Upon finding the second (imposter) blog I appealed to the owner, and got nowhere. I then appealed to Blogger.com, and got nowhere. I then appealed to my domain name and IP provider, and got nowhere.
So, I changed the name of my blog to "The Original Gobbleblog" and continued on from there.
I've enjoyed over 16,000 hits and the evil imposter blog has not benefitted from unblogmanlike conduct whatsoever. May a small, slimy, hair covered toad take a romantic interest in his ear!
Yikes! I just came across your posting here. Sorry - I didn't mean to steal your blog name. At least, it seems we have very different audiences. And maybe people looking for me will also come across your blog at the same time. I think the blogosphere is big enough for both of us. One thing I noticed is that if you search the Blog Finder at Technorati for "spare change" neither of us comes up (actually nothing comes up - there is nothing with that tag yet). As a peace offering, if you would like to add that tag on Technorati so that your blog comes up when someone searches on that term, I will not add that tag to mine. Deal?
Best,
Nedra
