1700 miles and running
Posted by Bryan

I'm back from my grandmother's memorial service. I actually returned Sunday morning. I left Friday, drove all day. I left at the end of the memorial and drove all night. All told, 1700 miles (or so) in approx. 30 hours.

I had rented a Ford Taurus for the trip. I'm not what you would confuse as "a small guy." So by the end of my excursion, I was wishing I had rented an Excursion. I literally had to fall out of the car to go inside, due to the vice-like clenching of my lower back muscles. I wrapped on a heating pad, took a Vicodin, and slept until noon.

Good as new!

Yesterday was spent in an all-day staff planning session. It was one of those awesome/exhausting days....I'm totally excited about everything that's taking place, but when you look at the next 13 months all at once it kinda makes you take a deep breath and say Holy Moley. Great days are ahead, but they will require great effort and total dependence upon a great God.

Thank you to all of you who have offered prayers and condolences. I appreciate you all much. I am thankful to God for giving me 34 years with my grandmother Marjorie McAnally. She was a fiery, independent woman full of personality and vitality. I have countless memories of much laughter and love expressed by this matriarch who deeply valued family, who fiercely protected her brood, and whose simple claim of faith in Jesus as Lord offers testimony to the grace and mercy of God.
