Twelve years ago today, I married Kelli Cotter.
My life has been blessed incredibly because of her.
She has taught me much and walked faithfully along my side. She has been patient with me and gently and humbly allowed me to grow into my role as a husband and father.
She amazes me daily with her sweet demeanor, her wise perspective, and her compassionate heart.
She is a discipler, a listener, a perseverer, and a counselor.
She has endured my sense of humor, my undiagnosed-yet-functional ADD, and my situational OCD (such as my constant need to catergorize things into groups of one, two, three.)
She is my closest friend and my one true love. She is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. We have been cleaved together and for that, I am profoundly grateful to God.
Happy Anniversary, dear heart. I love you deeply, and my love for you grows daily, dimensionally. I cannot imagine it possible to love you more, yet I enjoy you and appreciate you more each day. I am blissfully perplexed by this graceful phenomenon.
Phenomenon is a hard word for me to spell. Three tries before I got it correct, but I digress...
Thank you for saying "yes" to me. Yes to that scrawny kid who wrote you a secret admirer note clear back in 1987. For saying "yes" to homecoming that year. For saying "yes" in Denver a few years later.
For saying "yes" on that Colorado mountain top on July 4, 1994.
And for saying "yes" on June 24, 1995.
Still and forever, "I do."
About this photo - This was taken prior to our first date...homecoming 1987. Kelli was a senior and I was a Sophmore. The "mum" she is wearing is from me, although she only wore it to the dance, and not all day as I had hoped, since she already had one from her dad. I was a little bitter about it, but I've gotten over it.
mostly.
Apparently I was into the cool Cosby sweater thing. That's just the way I rolled back then.
And there's a shadow thing going on there with my head. I really did not have a mullet.
Until Spring my senior year. But that's another story.
