McAnally Family Pageant-tree?
Posted by Bryan

As my links to the right attest, I have made an initial venture into Facebook. I have this grand idea that the social networking of Facebook has something to offer in terms of information sharing for the Christian community. The church directory of the future, so to speak.

I've set up an FBC Grapevine network, and you can join Facebook and be added to the network. Then, you can share your contact information and photos and make announcements through it. Very cool stuff.

Anyway, that's not why I'm posting this. While on Facebook, adding Jen to the FBCG network (we're now a network of 2!), I wondered to myself, "Self, I wonder how many other McAnally people are on Facebook?" So, Self suggested I type in "McAnally" in the search, and see.

not Chris BrammerI quit looking after 4 pages of McAnally people. And not because there are too many, but because of two particular people that I just wanted to share with you. First is David McAnally (to the right). There's nothing particularly compelling to most of you about David. But to me, David is the identical twin of my good friend and college roommate Chris. Chris is not a McAnally. He's a Brammer. And a new daddy (but that's another story). Well, David looks so much like Chris (or the other way around) that it kinda freaked me out. My first thought was that Chris was yanking my chain and had set up some elaborate Facebook scheme to fool me.

But then I realized he was probably more focused on the whole "first-time-dad" thing.

You never know, though, the power of a "gotcha" moment. So I'm not closing the book on the possibility. And you have to admit, the resemblance is uncanny. I don't care if you don't know him. Admit it!

There she is...Okay...second, and really, this all about the potential of McAnally greatness...I happened across the listing of Shannon McAnally (as Beyonce says, to the left). Upon seeing her picture, I thought, "Self, that dress she's wearing sure looks pageant-y." And Self agreed, noting that we had passed by the Ms. Texas pageant on television a few nights ago without much of a second thought. And so I asked, "Self, what do you think are the chances that she might be Miss Texas, and maybe a future Ms. America? That would be cool....a McAnally as Ms. America!" And Self said, "well, google her name and see."

So I did.

It turns out that Ms. McAnally (I'm assuming no relation, by the way), represented Dallas County, but alas, counting, did not win or place, or show.

That last sentence was not meant to imply any equine equating. However, now that I'm at the end of this, I realize that this pageant may not be related to Ms. America, but instead with Trump's Ms. USA. Which does not mean a lot because I'm pretty much disinterested in both and have tired of wondering. In fact, Self has wandered off and is instead thinking about when I'm going to finish editing the next session of Up With Worship for the web.

I'll get right to it, Self.

Taskmaster.

Before I go, though, I did notice that there is another Bryan McAnally. He's a student at A&M. And he covers sports for The Battalion. That's almost enough to make me consider cheering for the Aggies. In the same way I almost cared about the Ms. Texas pageant.

Hi, came across your info while googling the McAnally name. (my maiden name) I just attended our family reunion in my hometown of Doniphan, Missouri, and while looking at a scrapbook came across a great-uncle named Texas McAnally. Our family migrated to Missouri from Tennessee. I'd be interested to know if you have an ancester named Texas.
