According to this calendar, our youngest daughter Kelsi has been alive for five years, four months, and 10 days.
For 1958 days (plus the estimated 256 days of her time in utero for a total of 2214 days), Kelli and I have prayed for Kelsi. We have prayed that she would grow up to know God, to love God, and to be loved by God. We have prayed every day that Kelsi would be saved. We have asked God to save her at a young age, so she could live her whole life for him, and grow to be a faithful witness who would bring him much glory.
For about the past 18 months, Kaylyn and Cotter have begun praying that prayer as well, in earnest. Faithfully interceding on behalf of our "Lil Bit," asking God for his grace to be applied unto her.
Over 4400 prayers from her parents.
Over 1000 more from her brother and sister.
Today, July 11, 2007, our prayer was answered.
Today, this morning, as Kelli and Kelsi returned from swimming lessons, they listened to music from the recent Vacation Bible School. One song explains the "ABCs" of coming to faith in Jesus.
A -- Admit that you are a sinner.
B -- Believe that Jesus is God's Son.
C -- Confess that Jesus is Lord.
Kelsi sung along and mentioned to Kelli at the song's conclusion, "I wish he would slow down so I could learn how to become a Christian."
Kelli answered, "Honey, I can tell you how you can become a Christian. Would you like to do that?"
"Yes, ma'am. I would like to do that today," she replied.
Kelli kindly waited until they arrived home, and together, we were able to share with Kelsi about how God loves her, and how he paid for her sin, and that she can go to heaven by trusting in Jesus.
After talking it through, Kelsi prayed. She asked God to forgive her for her mistakes and asked Jesus to be her Lord and save her.
And by faith, she has received the gift of heaven and eternal life.
One last point...it was not because of the multitude of prayer that God answered and blessed her today. It was because of the multitude of his mercies that he answered and blessed her today. Our petitions have shaped or heart to be like his, and to be concerned about what concerns him. We are thankful for his grace, and for this blessing.

Our prayers are daily lifted for Jesse. We pray the same for him as you have prayed for your children. I look forward to the day I can share this praise with the world.
