A few days ago, I received an email from one of my good, life-long friends Jamie that she has started a new business training cardio salsa. So if you are looking for what she offers, I recommend her.
Mind you, it is a character reference, not a professional one. The closest I come to salsa dancing is the time Cotter reached across the table to double dip his tortilla chip at Uncle Julio's and accidentally knocked the extra spicy into my lap.
A couple of things about Jamie....
I first met her in fourth grade at Sunset Elementary, where her mom was a fourth grade teacher. That was my first year at Sunset, after all my previous school years at East Elementary. I made most of my life-long friends at Sunset, and it seems like most of them had Mrs. Graff (Jamie's mom) or Mrs. Lawton. I had Mrs. Garrett, which was cool because she reminded me of the Mrs. Garrett from The Facts of Life. The resemblance fairly close, which simplified matters in my reductionistic brain (not sure if that's a word...spell check doesn't seem to think so). So, today, as far as I can recollect, I was taught by Charlotte Ray.
.
If Jamie were a character from the Facts of Life, she had the class of Blair and the spunk of Tootie.
She'd had been Blootie.
And I sincerely mean this in the best way possible. The world needs more Blooties.
I came to learn that Jamie was a Christian after I became a Christian. I think I knew she was before then, but prior to my own conversion, I was somewhat self-focused and not quite as aware of the spiritual leanings of my friends as I have been since. Jamie has been an awesome friend through the years. She has been an encourager and an exhorter and Kelli and I are thankful for her friendship. She's a mom of three, too.
One other thing about Jamie. She's married to a very nice, smart man named Jamey. This allows for many variations of stories that include the statement, "and then, Jamie...no, the other one."
