One Horsepower Engine...but Green
Posted by Bryan

Okay....this is awesome.

The photo above was posted in the online version of the Craig Daily Press, with the following caption:

Gus the horse waits outside of J. W. Snack's Gulf Coast Bar and BBQ on Wednesday for his owner Mike Price. Price decided to ride Gus into town because of the current high price of fuel.

This inspires me.

Gas is $3.82 a gallon here in the DFW metroplex. I spent $74.76 to fill up my gas tank yesterday. It's always at least a dime a gallon more expensive in Northwestern Colorado where I grew up...but often higher. After reading about Gus, though, I may look into a equine options.

I really see potential here. I'll buy a steed, name him Equinol, and ride him to work, using the labyrinth of bike paths connecting Flower Mound and Grapevine. The only dangerous path is the road across the Grapevine Lake Dam, but I could just mosey across the grassy hillside overlooking the Cowboys Golf Course. I'll house Equinol in the back yard. When he's eaten all our grass, I'll begin to advertise Equinol as a new eco-friendly lawn service for the neighborhood that not only mows their lawn, but periodically deposits an all-natural composting agent back into the landscape...at no extra charge.

I could actually make money from the oil crisis.

Thanks Gus!
