A Fishing Parable
Posted by Bryan

The following came into my inbox this morning...it was delivered as humor, but I see it instead as a great parable for the challenge facing Christians in a post-Christian age:

This old fisherman would go out in his boat every morning and come back about an hour later with a cooler filled with fish. The game warden got suspicious as to how the old guy always caught so many fish in such a short time. So he invited himself fishing with the old guy.

They went to the middle of the lake, the old guy pulls out a stick of dynamite and throws it overboard. Boom! Fish start floating to the surface and the old guy starts scooping them up in his net.

The game warden says, "You can't do that. It's illegal."

The old guy quietly lights another stick of dynamite, hands it to the game warden and says, "You gonna talk or are you gonna fish?"

Don't believe me, that we're entering an age where we're being told that "fishing for men" is illegal?

Item #1: Evangelist has to sue for the right to share the gospel at University of Miami (Ohio)

Item #2: California Clerk will not accommodate the conscientious objection to licensing same-sex marriages.

Item #3: New Colorado legislation limits free speech and restrict the right to evangelize.

This is merely the beginning.

Here's the deal...The word of God is more dynamic than TNT. Its message is explosive.

It has been placed in your hands to be used to cast a wide net.

The question is simple..."You gonna talk, or are you gonna fish?"
